We finally caught up on our sleep. Yesterday, Gertruda (foster mom) came to the apartment and brought S's foster sister, L who had just returned from camp. There are lots of camp opportunities for orphans in Latvia. L will stay with us here at the apartment until she leaves for hosting in America on July 1, the same day as our court hearing.
Last night, S, L and I went to the first of several days of events celebrating the summer solstice. It started to rain and we had no umbrella so we had to leave early but did see a bit. There was dancing and beautiful music.
Today we go to the country to be with the rest of the family for a cookout and bonfire, all part of the solstice celebration. Mama Gertruda brought us cutlets yesterday. I love this food and the rye bread is to die for!
Have a wonderful day! It is only 3:46 a.m. in USA and is 10:46 a.m. here. By the way, it was light until 11 p.m. last night and S woke me at 3:30 a.m. to show me that it was already light again. The girls did not go to bed until 4 a.m. They had a lot of catching up to do!
This is the kitchen here in the apartment. This is the entire kitchen and dining area.....all of it for seven people!! The fridge is in the foreground. I don't know if you can tell but it is like a dorm fridge. There is NO oven, only a microwave, which is sitting on top of the microwave. Still yet, Gertruda makes wonderful meals and they gather around this little table in love.
